..:: Biographie ::..

Rap Chaouen is a hiphop project created in 2006 by Sabertooth (Yassir Laghdas; born December 19, 1989), Redskins (Mohamed Rahhali; born September 23, 1986) and MC-Red (Mohamed Reda Belhachemi; born April 15, 1990).
They recently released their debut EP titled The Rap Chaouen EP.

The project was put together after several concerts the rappers were involved in before forming Rap Chaouen. The project was met with much success after recording quality rap songs and participating in numerous concerts like the Alegria Festival.
They're the first rappers from North Morocco to be featured on a major radio station, Hit Radio. They're also the first rappers from North Morocco to be participating in the Boulevard des Jeunes music festival in Casablanca.

The Rap Chaouen EP includes different styles from a purely underground record "3wiyel Motherfucker" to a track specially for concerts "Kolchi Yhezz Yeddeh" (which was later emulated by many). The Rappers tend to be the life of the party at concerts making the crowd go wilder minute by minute.

The introduction of the EP proves that a small city like Chefchaouen could produce magnificent records. Intro 2008, which is a rapcore record mixed with a little bit of crunk and contains a sample from Metallica, includes fast syllabic rapping and horrorcore screaming throughout the record, making it one of the most unique tracks ever produced in Morocco.
Ragga Chawniya is another party, hiphop mixed with ragga, record. The song was liked by many hiphop veterans and fans in Morocco (and was their first song to be featured on Hit Radio). The last track "Playback" (produced by Sabertooth) is fast rythmic song sampling one of the earliest heavy metal records "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida". The main theme of the song is about "If you could turn back time, what will you do". The rest of the songs featured are old ones (before recording the new ones at a professional studio) used as album fillers.

And about the most asked question "are they comercial or underground ?", the answer is : They don't believe in such a style called "commercial hiphop", but still believe in a "good mood hiphop just like the old time
